Droneboarding: Yes, it’s a Real Thing

And it’s not as much fun as it sounds, at least not yet.

Have you ever wanted a hoverboard, but just couldn’t afford one? Did you get a drone for Christmas and now you’re wondering what to do with it? Are you an avid snowboarder who hates hills?

Worry no longer; a Russian Youtuber has a plan for you. Simply get on a snowboard, attach a rope to your drone and get moving. The video above may ease some of your doubts, but you will probably notice some issues as well.

The main problem is that the drone isn’t powerful enough to get the small child moving very fast. It’s an exciting idea, but a fairly dull ride. On the other hand, there’s nothing suggesting that drones won’t get more powerful in the coming years.

However, if it were faster, I’m not sure it would be entirely safe. It begs questions like who is controlling the drone while you’re on the board and what happens if it’s dragging you straight towards a stationary object?

Once these issues are solved, maybe it will someday become your transportation method of choice!
