Taekwondo or rollerblading, anyone?

It’s no secret that eating healthy and exercising are the keys to trimming down unwanted body fat, but trying to figure out which exercises are best can be tricky.

After digging through research published by the National Institutes of Health, the Mayo Clinic put together a list of some of the most popular ways to get fit, and how many calories each of these activities actually burns.

It’s important to note that body type, gender, age, and other factors will cause these figures to vary from person to person, but below are the calorie-burning activities that made it into the top 10 of the list.

All of these activities were calculated to show the number of calories that would be burned in a one-hour exercise period:

160-pound (73 kgs) person: 548 calories

200-pound (91 kgs) person: 683 calories

220 pound (109 kgs) person: 818 calories

9. Playing basketball

160-pound (73 kgs) person: 584 calories

8. Flag or touch football
